To mark the generational transfer of leadership and a new beginning for an established real estate developer, we transplanted this firm of 30 people from a generic downtown office tower to a historic, three-story stone Victorian rooming house in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The goal was to create a dynamic modern business interior within the confines of this historic structure, while complying with the oft challenging and sometimes capricious requirements to procure state and federal historic tax credits to help finance the renovation of this 125 year old structure.
